Getting Started in Karting

Karting is one of the least expensive forms of motorsports.

Because this is road racing, tracks are complete with straightaways, left and right hand turns, from super-tight "hairpin" to high-speed "sweepers". There are classes for all ages (starting at age 8), depending on what type of engine you choose.

Karting is not only fun, but it is the training ground for tomorrow's professional drivers. An example of drivers who started in karts includes Emerson Fittipaldi, Scott Pruett, Al Unser, Sr., Rusty Wallace, Lake Speed and Michael Andretti.

Kart racing gives you the opportunity to learn about all aspects of racing vehicle dynamics, engine tuning, and proper driving techniques.

Is it dangerous?

Motorsports in general will always have a danger factor, but karts have an extremely low center of gravity so they don't easily roll, at the worst you will just spin. However, avoid bumping into other karts, or worse yet, rolling onto another karts tires as this could cause the kart to flip and jettison its passenger (you!).

Kart Racing is Family Friendly

Children may begin racing at the age of 8, and continue right up in their 60's, too! Many families help out during the race day as "pit crews" for the karters. You'll see family members keeping lap times, working on engines and helping the racers suit up before the race and lots of other activities.

Safety is #1.

All karts are inspected each race day to make sure they are race ready. In addition, all drivers are required to wear full face helmets with the latest safety rating, protective clothing, gloves, high-top shoes, and neck collar.

I truly hope you enjoy and learn from our experiences and that you may thrill to the awesome sensation of adrenalin rush as you sit in the grid ready for your first race, the mind blowing sensation of high speed with your bottom 2 inches off the track and the wonderful comradeship found in karting. So come on out and spend some time with us.  We're always happy to answer your questions and tell you why we like karting. We think you'll like it, too!
